Austrian drum & bass imprint present Siamese Twins / The Oracles Call, the latest record from brand new signing Gestalt. A newcomer to the drum & bass world, Gestalt has previously released a remix for Zombie Cats. On his latest record, he shows an ability to imbue the drum & bass formula with noise aesthetics, pushing the envelope with each track.
‘Siamese Twins’ opens the record. Kicking off with piercing white noise and deep bass throbbing in the background, the track soon transitions into grainy synths, chugging bass and distorted percussion work. It’s somewhere between drum & bass and downtempo electronica, powerful in scope and impactful in sound.
Next up is ‘The Oracles Call’. Here, a collection of fuzzy synth rumble against each other, a symphony of ambient noise that Gestalt arranges to create the introduction. After a vocal sample that’s manipulated into the ether, precision layered percussion and amorphous bass lines combine.
